How to Find Peer-Reviewed Articles: Articles+ Tips

Tips for finding peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles in the library catalog and selected databases. Also information about the peer-review process.

Articles+ Search

This search box is the same one found under the Articles+ tab on the library homepage. It searches through several of the library's databases simultaneously, and can be helpful if you're not sure where to start.

Using the Library Catalog to find Peer-reviewed Articles

  1. Open the advanced search function by using the link under the search bar on the library homepage.
  2. On the advanced search page, set the “search for” button to Articles.
  3. Put in your words into the search term lines.
    1. When using advanced search, use important words instead of full sentences. For example, if you want to learn about the mental health conditions of college students, use “mental health” and “college students.”
  4. Limit the language to English and adjust the publication dates if needed, then hit search.
  5. On the right side of the results page, under the “availability” section, hit the checkbox labeled “Peer-reviewed Journals” and apply filters.
    1. It’s important to note that even peer-reviewed journals may have editorials or other non-reviewed articles, so double-check that your article is not labeled editorial or op-ed.
