The staff of Allen Memorial Library want to contribute to your research success however we can. We are available for assistance online through chat, on the phone, or by email. We would also be happy to set up an online appointment with you (over Skype, Google Hangout, etc.) for a more in-depth research consultation.
That said, there are times when you may need research assistance when a librarian is unavailable to assist you. If you find yourself in this situation, be sure to check out our Research Guides. These guides are designed to provide you the most relevant research materials for your topic. Use them to browse the available library resources, including online books, databases, recommended websites, and more.
Please note that you will need to log into Off Campus Access in order to use most of the Library's resources away from campus.
For a brief introduction to accessing our online resources, watch our VCSU Allen Memorial Library Virtual Orientation video playlist.

We own over 100,000 eBooks available through Ebook Central and the EBSCO eBook Collection. eBooks are actual published books in electronic format, so they should meet your instructor's requirement for book sources. Please be aware that eBooks in the EBSCO eBook Collection can only be viewed by one person at a time, just like print books. If you get an error message for an eBook that you want to read, check back later to look at it when the other person is finished with the book!
For popular books and recent releases, use OverDrive. This resource offers eBooks and audiobooks that you can download to your Kindle, Nook, mobile devices, and computers. For more information on how to use this service, please see the OverDrive Guide.
To view more eBook and Audiobook options at the Library, please visit our eBooks and Audiobooks page.
In addition to the eBooks and Audiobooks mentioned above, the Library also provides unlimited free access to a number of streaming video and image source options. Films on Demand provides access to thousands of videos, many of which are full length, from such organizations as the BBC, History Channel, PBS, and more. To view additional options, visit the Library's Multimedia page.
If you have any questions about services offered to online and distance students, please feel free to contact Allen Memorial Library.
