The following photos my give you a glimpse of life at Allen Memorial Library, Valley City State University!
Below, Barb invites you in the front door.
Up the stairs and onto the main floor....
Looking to your right...(the Lobby)

And to your left (the Circulation Desk)

Mrs. Wieland at the Reference Desk
And the "staff view" from behind the Circulation Desk (and computer)
The Reference Room (below)--a traditional study area. Valley City State University is a laptop university
so students, staff and faculty take their laptops EVERYWHERE with them. The entire library building has
wireless broadband access to the Internet.

Another view of the Reference Room:
The library staff (6 FTE and a dozen or so student employees) work in this area,
which consists of three adjoining rooms/open workspaces.

The "center" work area room....and
a view of all three adjoining rooms. Karen is back in the third room and Ken Merkes
is working on interlibrary loan.

Above, one of two public rooms on second floor--the classroom and (below)
the lounge (with satellite TV access...and wireless, of course.) Vending machines
are in the other corner!

Above is a view going down the stairs...

A final look (above) at the library. This is the Curriculum Library--a working model
of a K-12 school library. It is used by our education students & school library media
students, as well as by children of the faculty and staff on campus! And, FINALLY,
(below) a photo of the stacks. Allen Memorial Library has--interestingly enough--
four floors of stacks and three "people" floors! Well, you have to see it to believe it!
Hope this photographic tour has helped you picture Allen Memorial Library just a bit better!
